There are four major sinus cavities, two above your eyes and two below your eyes. When an inflammation occurs, these cavities may fill with mucous drainage, swell further, and cause significant pain and distress. Estimates are that about 40 million citizens suffer with this condition.
Bacterial infection is thought to be the primary cause but preventing the inflammation is the key. Unfortunately, drugs will not accomplish that. Generally, a vitamin A deficiency is a primary cause and the nutritional treatment includes significant amounts of Vitamin A. Vitamin C is also indicated. Antibiotics may be used and frequently grant much relief. However, as previously mentioned, the underlying cause of the problem is not addressed, so the condition tends to flare up often.
